this all-new tooling model features fine moulding and printing detail, detachable PECO “Elsie” couplers so that alternatives can be used if required, and smooth-running metal-tired wheels.
Prototype Notes
From around 1975 a number of 16t mineral wagons were converted to carry heavy castings used in the steel production industry. These castings were placed on a layer of ballast inside the wagon to cushion the load. Our model therefore represents a typical example form the period, the swansong of the 16t mineral, as they were eventually phased out of service completely during the 1980s.
