Rhätische Bahn AG is a Swiss transport company, who owns the largest network among all private railway operators in Switzerland.The dual gauge ABe 8/12 trains, built in Switzerland by Stadler Rail AG, were delivered between 2009 and 2011. They are used mainly on Rhaetian Railway routes with steep inclines. One set holds the World Speed Record for a Metre gauge train at 139 km/h. but can also run at slow speeds on tram tracks in cities.
Because of this duel use this locomotive can be used on normal N Scale layouts as well as on the Kato Unitram system.
The Rhaetian Railway serves a number of major tourist destinations, such as St Moritz and Davos. One of the RhB lines, the Bernina Railway, connects with the Italian railway network at Tirano, Lombardy.
